Equine Fusion sells closed boots with aggressive tread patterns (the all terrain sole) and a stud kit you can add on for even better traction on ice or in mud. I remember seeing a promo video showing

Oh dear, very sad. Talk about the unfairness of things that can happen. My thoughts are with you.

Hi Joella,
If she has ground parallel CB, then leaving the wedge in place is good as it will supply some added height to the back half of the foot. Whether the frog support is a bonus or not is

Hi Heidi,
It really depends on the kind of ice you have. If you have sticky ice (I know that sounds dumb but I can’t figure a different word) then some of the agressive type tred patterns work.

I am not a vet!
these are thoughts questions I would have if it were me.
Antibiotics travel in the blood yes? So increasing vascular perfusion would help? J-herb?
if they can get a needle up in

Boots for best traction in winter conditions
Hi all,
We already have gotten our first snowfall in northern Illiniois, so looks like a long winter ahead. I have a 3 year old who has thin soles and he gets very ouchy on frozen surfaces.

Ok. X- rays look bad. Nail had penetrated through navicular bone. On top of that Zuni has navicular to start. Infections in navicular & coffin bone.
Yes I know, very bad. However, Zuni is not ready

Serious lameness due to 1 1/2 inch nail penetration
Zuni is in the hospital. Fluid in the navicular bursa. We had the choice of trying aggressive antibiotics for $4000-5000, possibly surgery which brings it up to $8000 or letting her go. My roommate

Crap, did not see that pic! Yep, the sole is shedding. I would keep this in a boot to protect it until new sole is ready

Re: Strange looking structure under sole
What you are seeing is retain sole. How long has it been like this? Heels look good. Nice heel buttress. Decent frogs. Flairs are an issue. Looks like a good roll to help grow out the flairs.

Heated socks
Has anyone ever tried battery heated socks to keep the hoofs warm?
i was thinking if I got a big enough pair I could put them on where the battery is located on the inside where she couldn’t roll
