We have had wall separation every June for a while now. In all four mules, all on the same diet. Dry lot, tested hay, balanced minerals. I can ride bare foot for the winter months. But every June, it all falls apart. Any thoughts? One is IR, one is IR/PPID, two are normal.

First thoughts are that either there is something happening just before you see the feet fall apart in June that is causing this (i.e., ground hardens or softens; growth accelerates outstripping trim interval; fly irritation escalates, with foot stomping increasing) or that something is occurring around the seasonal time that is affecting the hooves but you don't see the manifestation until 6-9 months later, when that affected growth is getting close to the ground.

Seasonal rise affects all equids, whether they are additionally compromised by IR/PPID or not, by making them more IR as a part of the preparation for winter. In most parts of the world, winter and summer footing is quite different so could have an effect.
