Thanks Nancy! But I assume it is not specifically targeted at insuline resistence itself, but possibly at pain resulting from that situation such as laminitis?

Gabapentine has been discussed before - prescribed for neuropathic pain. Recommendation from here is generally Acetyl-L-Carnitine as it works better. You can find background info by doing a message archive search.
