Hello, Is, Magnesium Oxide, the preferred form of magnesium to feed to IR/Cushing horses? If so, what are the benefits over magnesium sulfate, magnesium carbonate, or magnesium L-aspartate?
Magnesium oxide - good bioavailability and price. Iron contamination may be a problem.
Magnesium sulfate - poor palatability. May be more likely to cause diarrhea.
Magnesium carbonate - good bioavailability and low iron. Requires a larger volume than mag oxide.
Magnesium L-aspartate - expensive. Requires a much larger volume.
