When I had my Cushings mare, I would take a dried prune(which has a sticky surface), open the capsule(they twist apart) and dump the contents onto the surface of the dried prune. Then feed it to her. She would chomp it down.
The capsules powder is apple flavored and there doesn't seem to be any bitterness with it. If I tried to hide the entire capsule into a prune, she would try to spit out the crunch gelatin capsule.
