Cory and Deb need help

Deb Funderburk <hawkhilldeb@...>

Hi everyone-- I have done a major update of Cory's file and also uploaded new pictures of his latest trim (really, Linda, I know it doesn't look like it, but I am really nibbling away at his toe). The problem is that after the flareup of laminitis in April Cory got better in June, and for three weeks I was really encouraged. Then on July 3rd, he started being ouchy again. This was in his paddock with boots on, of course. In fact, he seemed more painful than he ever did in April and May. It was so bad that I gave him Bute three times, which I didn't do in April and May. I thought perhaps it was an abcess, but Cory has never had one so I didn't know what to expect. Well, three weeks later there is still no obvious sign of an abcess, and he seems marginally better, but still very lame.

I've had him in his stall for a week now. I take his boots off at night (he is deeply bedded). Should I leave them on? I stopped the J-herb, because I thought the laminitis might be flaring up again. Was that wrong? Should I restart it? Why is he so painful again? What can I do to make him more comfortable?
