Hi Sally,

The amount of flax/flax oil being fed is for the supplementation of omega 3's and has no correlation to the amount of vit E needed on a daily basis. If using a powdered vit E source, you could mix it into the flax oil instead of another type of oil before feeding.

The amount of vit E needed for maintenance is 1000iu per 500lbs body weight. We recommend using gelcaps with oil in them to make it simpler than having to mix other forms into an oil to assure proper absorption.

Linseed meal is a good source of protein but not appropriate for an IR horse. If your diet is low on protein, whey protein isolate is a much better alternative. The omega 3's are what would be helpful for coat but those have been removed from linseed meal.
