Re: ECIR Group Inc. 2015 NO Laminitis! Conf - Nov 6-8

Hi Lorna

Thanks for asking about ECIR Group Benefactors.

Almost six years ago when we were planning the first NO Laminitis Conference in New York, our goal was to have a great conference, give out lots of wonderful info to help horses, and set aside funds to do the work necessary for the ECIR Group to become a federally recognized 501(c)3. We knew that companies who have supported the ECIR Group for over a decade could play a significant supportive role to help us meet our goals.

The 2011 committee had many discussions as to how to best go about this.  It was important to make sure the focus was on lecture content and that the conference not become the commercial enterprise you may see at other events.

The ECIR Group is a unique group of discerning members, loyal in patronizing companies providing goods or services proven to be geared to their needs. The group works very hard ensure that when products are discussed or recommended by the membership, they are safe for our IR and PPID horses.

Only companies who have a clearly demonstrated history of supporting the members in their quest to support all horses, but most especially those with equine metabolic disorders, are approached to be Benefactors.

These businesses represent products and services that are generally recommended safe for Insulin Resistant and Equine Cushing’s horses, support the protocols used by the ECIR Group, and have demonstrated a willingness to listen to and work with the ECIR group membership.

There are five levels of Benefactors with varying contribution amounts and benefits. We have recently redesigned the ecirhorse and nolaminitis web sites to list the top level Benefactors with links to their websites.  Special thanks thanks to our fabulous web volunteers Carla, Patty and VPGraphix.

All Benefactors appear in the conference program hand-out.  The hand-out will be expanded this year to include abstracts of all lectures and poster presentations.

Many of the Benefactors attend the conference which I personally love to see.

If you are on Facebook, you can see pictures of the 2013 conference starting here

And yep.  Got plenty to do.  Thank goodness we have some AWESOME volunteers!

Thanks, Lorna.
