I managed to find the treats I was talking about and so I compared them to those beet e bites you mentioned... the ones I saw are much cheaper and lower in sugar/starch and fat.

They're different sizes and shapes but I don't think a horse really cares... don't know though which a horse would rather eat but I'll pick the lower price any day.
