 You don't need chromium unless your hay is grown in a chromium deficient area, plus there is some evidence that high intakes of chromium can cause increased insulin levels by decreasing uptake of insulin by the liver. Diabetic humans have high glucose- where as in IR horses,  it is the insulin that is elevated- not the glucose (in most cases)
