I recently used Bio Sponge for our Appy (not IR or PPID) because of prolonged "cow Pies", not exactly Diarrhea, but close.  The vet recommended it for 2 or 3 days (half a tube twice a day) and we used for 2 days and it did stop the cycle.  We added additional fiber (additional Oat Pellets and some Oat Hay also)...  Just an FYI.
