1.  Get soil tested now and  treat as recommended. Tell the testing lab you want the pH as high as acceptable  for growing grass hay
2.  Talk to your local agricultural extension agent about grass type options. Timothy, Orchardgrass or Native/Meadow hay are your likely main options.
3.  Arrange to cut very early in the AM for lowest sugar and starch

Talk to Nancy Collins. She's been actively involved in the growing of her hay in NH.
