Following up on my previous post, I’ve been in touch with the nutritionist again and clarified the beet pulp recommendation. She suggests giving the vit/min complete ‘feed’ (Omneity) instead of the beet pulp and that this should be a sufficient replacement for my mare. The advice was that there may be a high protein component that is not being absorbed in the hind gut do to the high calorie beet pulp which can turn the hind gut slightly acidic and possibly cause issues. She also clarified that the Amino Trace supplement, in addition to the Remission supplement, gives my mare a large amount of magnesium which can cause diarrhea and other GI issues, so it wasn’t the Amino Trace specifically that was causing my issues, but a side effect of the combination of those supplements.
