Insulin response to eating

This study compared insulin responses to meals with various levels of sugar/starch in normal horses versus EMS horses. Not surprisingly, EMS horses had higher insulin responses across the board even though for most horses the meal size would be less than a pound. Also not surprisingly, lowest response was to a low (6%) sugar/starch meal.
