I think Sherry and Lavinia answered your questions for me.  I don't use NSC.  I was only making the point that if NSC is below 10%, then we know ESC+starch must be below 10%.  That is true for hay, feeds or grains.  So if the ESC +starch numbers aren't available, the NSC number can help guide a decision.

Don't believe anything you read on a feedbag about low sugar, low NSC, etc.  These products often test well above what they say is in them.  If they're not on our approved list, they're not safe.
