If your horse finished his grain an hour before bloodwork the insulin spike from the grain could contribute to skewed test results.  We recommend waiting 4 hours after the first meal of the day (definitely grain, hay as well if it was not available for 4 - 6 hours prior to testing). The horse can have hay in front of him up until bloodwork is pulled.
