I printed out the information associated with the links and have been studying/comparing your comments with the information at the links. I think the light bulb is slowly coming on as to the parts of the puzzle we've been missing [even though we thought I thought we weren't]. Between now and his trim August 12. I'm also going to practice measuring the collateral grooves myself to see if I get the same thing my farrier gets. Thanks for mentioning the Easycare comfort pads. They are more economical. I'm going to purchase a pair of the 6mm mediums and firms to see how these work. The new Cavallo pads already have holes starting in them.  Thanks so much for the added input! We will get this right eventually.
