Hi Carly. Prior to Quests problems with her feet....was she turned out with or near the cows? If yes, then she may perceive them as her "herd" and her "safety". Horses can get hypervigilant and reactive because they feel vulnerable and its a natural response for them. She may be feeling good enough now, that she is tuning back into life. Is there a cow or two that could be housed near her or outside of her box stall? It would be interesting to try it and see what happens. Sometimes, its just the "herd" that provides comfort, no matter what that herd is..Just a thought to consider and try to see if it has any calming effects.
