Key points to remember:
keep the carrier amount as low as possible and if he still refuses, then add small amounts of additional carrier until he accepts the Mag and Flax. 
Moisten the carrier so the minerals stick to the carrier and stir it up. ( if he has trouble chewing, you can add more water)
What ever weight  you end up with for the carrier feed, it needs to be added to your total hay for the day. Then redo your math to ensure you are still within the 1/5- 2% of ideal body weight or current body weight...whichever is greater.
