Re: am I feeding the right amount?
What is topline view for photos? Just to clarify, this the feed
amount because we were looking for weight gain going into winter.
This is the first time she has maintained her wgt in winter.

By tape she is 980
Depending on her normal build, she's either at or above top normal
weight probably. However, hay belly and ribby suggests poor utilization
of her diet rather than true weight gain.

Re: Joint and hoof question
Hi Denise,
Did you vet do any nerve blocks? That would tell you for sure if it's
the navicular or the fetlock that's bothering her. From X-ray changes
alone, I'd be more suspicious of the navicular

Kris, when you are making your list of requirements for boots, one important consideration for my mare Tina, because of her age as well as arthritic condition, her pastern, fetlock areas are enlarged.

In general, what adjustments are made to feed once an IR horse has
acheived good insulin/glucose results and weight is good (with a hay
belly though)? Bp was used to increase weight and control

I use padded bell boots inside simple boots to help with rubbing. I found that this combination also works well to retain warmth and to keep out snow. Boas are one of the few boots I do not have so
