Re: OAT PELLET QUESTION - FEEDBACK, PLEASE
Hi Dr. Kellon,
Thank you for your reply :) I give her a small bucket of r/s/r shredded beet pulp now. How much could I increase it...is there such a thing as too much beet pulp?

Hi, Sandra,
Thank you so much for your feedback and for that page about discerning whether a horse is too thin. That was VERY helpful. I suppose Angel is between a 3 and a 4, which is good. 1

Thanks for the info, but I think I'll stick with the Synthroid for me
and the Thyro-L for HRH. I switched back to Synthroid after being
bounced from one generic to another. I was miserable. I

Re: Vit E: an easier way? - thyroxine absorption
The only two things I know of (and just checked again) that will
interfere with thyroxine absorption are soy and calcium. Since calcium
is in everything, human dosing instructions call for taking it

Re: omega 3,6,9
No issues. If you're thinking about the 28.8 carbohydrate figure, note
that most of that is fiber.

Re: soy hulls vs beet pulp
Not easy to find soy hulls either, but they compare very favorably to
beet pulp, similar safety and calories, more balanced mineral profile.
In the drawback category is dusty.

Re: OAT PELLET QUESTION - FEEDBACK, PLEASE
You would have to have them tested to know for sure but oat hay pellets
can be too high in sugar and starch. Increasing her hay and beet pulp
would be safer - and switch her to ground stabilized flax

flax
There's some oleic acid naturally occuring in the flax. That's fine.
They don't actually require it because they can synthesize it
themselves.
