Good low s/s feed for older hard keeper?
Hi all,
In addition to Shahtahr, I also have a 22 yr old Arabian mare. She is the opposite of him in that she is a hard keeper. I don't think she is IR, but I don't want to invite any problems

Too Much Protein if Split Peas are Added?
Hi Dr. Kellon,
You told me in a consultation that Pabatsa's hay has enough protein at 10.7%. I feed him around 24 lbs. total soaked Timothy hay/day. Would the additional split peas be adding too

Dr. Kellon,
I am new to the group so if I ask questions that have been answered before please forgive me. What do you recommend as a "safe" level of starch/sugar in the feed and /or hay

Hi Dr Kellon,
I know and that has me worried. She has been on 1.5mg since probably January, down from 2mg during the fall. What sort of dosing protocol should we try? This is really a surprise since

You need to talk with your vet about adjusting pergolide dose to get better control. This is the best time of year for PPID horses but the highest ACTH you have on record.

Hi Linda,
I'm sorry you don't have more support "on the ground", but you'll find plenty here.
