Re: Help please: Need to justify high pergolide dose to vet
Hi Alison
Just to clarify, this is for metformin (for insulin resistance), not pergolide (for PPID).
For metformin, it's not 30 mg twice a day, it's a calculation -
30 mg per kg of horse's

Re: The Importance of All Our Slogging
Indeed. Thank you for sharing your find, Lorna. The power of this group is amazing.
Alf celebrated his 25th birthday in July. Without this group, I doubt he would have made it past 20. Thank you

30 mg twice a day? So, 60 mg all together?
Alison/Diesel 08/11
Parker, TX
Andy Durham's recommended dose for Metformin is 30 mg/kg bodyweight twice a day.

Re: Sonny hay
Don't worry. I am math challenged too.
You'd be using about one ounce per day of the Equi-Phos. There are 16 ounces in a pound. 20 pounds will last a really long time - my math says almost a year

Starch vs ESC: equal effects on insulin?
Another list member thought she had read that starch converts 100% to insulin when the horse eats it, whereas simple sugars (ESC) only convert about 50% to insulin. I can't find any reference to this

Dear Deena,
What a good mama you are...you put Strider's needs ahead of it all...very difficult. I hope the peace that surrounds Strider will, with time, be your friend. I am so sorry. Fly Free

Equimins Advance Concentrate Meta Balance Formula 1 or 2?
I've just ordered the Equimins Advance Concentrate Meta Balance and was asked if I wanted the original Formula 1 or Formula 2 - I went for Formula 2 as it is higher in Magnesium and Copper, was this
