Hi Lisa
It sounds like you have started Carl on pergolide only recently?
Some horses are more sensitive (especially when starting it) than others. Have you read Pergolide

Re: Carl has adverse effects of Prascend Dr Kellon
I'd stop it, get the APF on board as soon as you get it, 8 mL. You're not supposed to cut the Prascend in quarters so get a prescription for 0.25 mg capsules. Only order a small number. You can always

Re: Dodson & Horrell Ultimate Balancer
D&H 'Daily Vits&Mins' has 2000mg/kg iron, which would make it a bad choice in my book.
Formula4Feet is alfalfa based, which might be a problem too.

Cornell's server is down (Animal Health Diagnostic Center) so I can't link you the details right now but they have the most up to date testing and I would send blood there.

Leptin runs higher in mares, so that's part of the explanation. Otherwise, I suspect we need more pony specific information on leptin and IR. In this study, improved insulin sensitivity was associated

Re: Pony with Laminitis - need help
Thanks everyone, this is a lot of information. I do have access to Triple Crown. I tried to feed it before but the horses I was giving it to reacted to the rice bran. This pony was not one of them

Hi Zoe,
I should have just gone to bed last night instead of speaking up.
I have just now got your numbers, too, although I also managed to have 2 other different results with the calculator.

I would keep him on the emergency diet until you get your hay tested, and then balance to the hay.
Did you read the files section here? :)

Re: Are these lab results normal or should I re-test?
Hi Lorna,
I punched these numbers into the IR calculator and the ratio for me came back as 31.80 where 10 and above is normal.
Did I do this wrong or am I using the incorrect units or something? I

Hi Zoe,
I have to get to bed,but just wanted to say that ,if my calcs are correct, her ratio is 4.47 (4.5 rounded off)which makes her compensated IR. Or just under the 'line'.
Tightening up her diet
