Re: neuritis vs. laminitis
Hi Beverly,
Agree totally with both Nancy and Lorna.
In addition, 1/2 of a 57mg tablet of Previcox, once per day, for a 450lb horse is an overdose amount. Doubling that to twice per day is even more

In order to get the insulin down you need to zero in on why it is still high. Please reread many

Re: Pasture with muzzle?
Stephanie,
That's a decision you have to make. All I can do is tell you what can happen. It depends on his history, too. For example, before I joined this group, I made a bad decision to turn my horse

For all who weighed in on Kathleen's "dissertation," I agree with Jainie, Lorna, Nancy, Lavinia--you ALL made my day. It's why this group is so remarkable: Science-based information/research, leavened

Hi Kathleen,
Thanks for replying. He's never had a muzzle before as he's always been a hard keeper even before the IR/PPID. I think he will be so excited to be out with his friends that he won't

Re: Pasture with muzzle?
Is his IR controlled (insulin results)? If not, you can tape the hole on the muzzle with duct tape and see if he tolerates it. Some get too frustrated and some are so glad to be out they don't care.

Corinne~
Boy Neo is a PITA!
Your link brings up an error message.
Seems the correct part of the CH link reads: files/Corrine and Jasper.
So minus the " %20%20". The rest looks correct.

Pasture with muzzle?
Hi Everyone,
Hope you all had great and safe holidays! I am wondering if it's safe to put King out in pasture with a muzzle on. His friends /roommates go out during the day and he's getting upset

Corinne~
Your case history link is miss-spelled.
Neo will not let me copy /paste the link but it should read ":echistory 8."
It currently reads "ehistory8"
There is a missing "C".

Re: Cushings testing
Hi Merle,
Lack of protein may not be the reason he lost topline. Untreated PPID will result in loss of topline due to muscle and connective tissue breakdown. Best to run eACTH test to check for this.
