Mine is on the ancient side too - she's 30 this year. Do you soak the peas before you grind them - or grind them dry.

My pony would not eat split peas as is. He eats them happily if they have been soaked. At first I soaked them separately, but now add them, with water, to his tub of ODTB cubes in the morning. By
