I think you meant experiment with no rinsing the Speedi-Beet? It definitely needs to be soaked before feeding but as Jaini said that only takes minutes.
Maybe a few days in the refrigerator but I'm

Re: Speedi Beet & pergolide dosage
Thanks Jaini!
We will be bold and experiment with not soaking the Speedi Beet. If there is a hint of trouble, we will figure something else out.
Could I make up a week's worth of soaked

Hi, Jody - Not Dr. Kellon, but I can give you an informed opinion. Given that he has laminitis, there are three likely causes: IR alone; IR driven by Cushing's; or something from left field, like Lyme

Re: Horse WILL NOT eat his minerals
One can get away with a 10:1:3:3 ratio of iron, copper, zinc and manganese; but really, to prevent issues down the road, I think all horses should be on a 4:1:3:3 ratio. If manganese is high, then

Re: restesting an IR pony
Hi, Vicky - The starting dose of jiaogulan is 1/2 tsp twice daily for older horses, and 3/4 tsp twice daily for younger horses and ponies. It is dosed to effect. Take note of the colour of the gums

Metformin and initial testing for Spot
This is a question most likely for Dr. Kellon, but if anyone else can give me quick advice that would be great.
Quick background while I put together a case history on Spot: Spot Foundered 9 weeks

What is the recommended iron, copper, zinc balance for a horse with out IR? IR horses are suppose to be 4:1:4 or less correct?

Well, dang! As maddening and expensive as ulcers can be, at least they can be potentially treated; and if that solves an eating problem then everyone is happy.
With any luck, if you can get Jorah's

restesting an IR pony
Hi there!
I am going to have a retest done this Friday. I want to retest everything, glucose, insulin, ACTH, leptin, and cbc, as I have just recently moved my horse over a month ago to a new barn.
