Re: Cushings horse losing weight
Ditto Cindy, same exact experience with my gelding over the years. Weight loss when ACTH rises, weight returns with pergolide dose increase. I'm curious . . . my horse is not baseline IR, is yours?

Re: Testing for PPID?
Thanks so much, both of you! That's very helpful to know. I texted the vet today to find out if she knew about Cornell's shipping labels and she said she had heard of that, but never used them before.

Re: Pergolide veil, not eating
Oh, dear. This is one of those puzzling ones, in the sense that she does need the increase of pergolide, as not only the bloodwork but the decrease in urination since the dose was increased has shown.

Pergolide veil, not eating
Had to increase Racham's Pergolide due to elevated seasonal rise of 95 ACTH (toward end of August). from 1mg slowly titered to 2mg (part compounded + part Prascend) which she has reached the 2mg 2

I've had the exact same experience with my horse losing weight. Especially during the seasonal rise. My mares weight loss every year was in direct relation to her ACTH levels. I too have found that it

Re: Early Onset PPID
Paula,
Thank you for your reply.
You have certainly worked your way through some odd presentations of IR/PPID. It is helpful to hear your story, read your case history’s, and regain my hope

Re: ODTB and Feed Help
I emailed Stacy this morning, but haven't heard back yet.
But, the good news is, I just found a mill, not quite an hour away that has soy hull pellets :)

Hi, Gabriela - Eek! If TJ were mine, I would definitely talk to the vet about increasing. Even better would be to get your vet to phone in a prescription for compounded pergolide to Island Pharmacy,

I was just wondering if her insulin had improved. I am glad she is looking bright, etc. Yes to allowing her to amble around on her own as she improves. When she is out on the drylot, using the DJM

ODTB and Feed Help
I just got off the phone with my Southern States and although they say they "might" be able to order the cubes at some point, she has no idea when and it's not sounding good.
I've had to give my guys

Thanks for these stories. I'm so happy to hear that catching these diseases early can result in possibly no laminitis or founder issues ever. I'll keep on trucking and reading so I can learn as much
