Kim,
Heartfelt condolences on the passing of Shomee. The best thing you can do is talk with the vets at Davis about what they are investigating and what donations from Shomee would be best used. That

Re: Test for ACTH levels
Insulin is always good to know because of its association with laminitis risk, but the leptin (while interesting) may not be particularly helpful.

Re: feed question post laminitis
I bought a variety of pads from the HappyHoofPads company. Because they have a variety of pad density and thickness available you can inexpensively replace the pads that come inside of therapy boots

Re: Trailering to get ACTH and insulin test?
Judy,
If there is any way your vet can provide you with a vacutainer holder and appropriate needles, in addition to the vacutainer blood tubes, I prefer this method to using a syringe. Another trick

Re: Leptin test and Timothy cubes - western Canada
Thank you, Kirsten!
I think calcium is not so much low as it is out of balance with phosphorous with AminoTrace+ in the mix. I've reached out to Kathleen for consult, so looking forward to her

Re: High insulin and when to restest
Vicky,
You don't have to wait to start EPM treatment. Those medications wont' affect results. One caveat is that some horses appear to experience a "die off" reaction, like Jarisch-Herxheimer during

Re: Trailering to get ACTH and insulin test?
Excellent. Thank you very much Dr K. The angles you mentioned are very helpful since it’s hard to get the 3D effect by watching You tube videos.
I will practice on a roast/chicken for sure. Great

An update to the swollen sheath issue...
Took him out for a couple of hours trail riding yesterday. W/T/C hills, etc. Came home and the swelling had diminished from estimated 75% to 20%. HUGE
