Believe me, a lot of us would be delighted if soaking hay removed ALL the calories. There’s nothing I’d like better than to give my horse ad lib, calorie-free hay.

Blanketing can also be helpful in extreme cold - anytime the horse is shivering for sure - because keeping them warm in general helps prevent blood from shifting away from the extremities.

Trailering can be hard on them because of the bumps and jolts forcing sudden weight shifts. With very painful horses it is recommended to bed down the trailer and give them enough room to lie down.
