Re: Compounded Pergolide instead of Prascend
The way I remember it is 1 prascend tablet should be compounded as 1.33 mg of compounded pergolide. So that means 2 pracend should be compounded as 2.66 mg. ie then go up to 3.0 cp Am I correct on

Believe me, a lot of us would be delighted if soaking hay removed ALL the calories. There’s nothing I’d like better than to give my horse ad lib, calorie-free hay.

Blanketing can also be helpful in extreme cold - anytime the horse is shivering for sure - because keeping them warm in general helps prevent blood from shifting away from the extremities.

Trailering can be hard on them because of the bumps and jolts forcing sudden weight shifts. With very painful horses it is recommended to bed down the trailer and give them enough room to lie down.

Thanks Dr Kellon! If I can’t get a vet out before a few days would it be safe to trailer her or what are the protocols for trailering recovering laminitic horses?

Hi Jan,
I don't believe we've ever discussed blanketing as being helpful with winter laminitis. The main issue is keeping the extremities warm at 40 and below - you can read more in our archives or
