Re: Second Request. SAM-E
Extrapolating from human, average size horse 900 to 1100 lbs dose would be 1600 to 2400 mg daily. Pure Bulk sells the loose powder of the stabilized tosylate form but you still should get the smallest

Re: Requesting assistance interpreting insulin/glucose results
Thank you, Dr. Kellon!
By normal, do you mean not IR? And by definitely abnormal, do you mean definitely IR?
Amika's calculator results only said low insulin responder because I mixed up the numbers.

Thank you Dr Kellon for your reply and explanation. Makes sense. Hopefully we can get an accurate test done this time!

Re: Requesting assistance interpreting insulin/glucose results
OK. Amika's results are normal then. Don't worry about the low insulin responder comment. That's only a concern if glucose is high.
Your other horse though is definitely abnormal.

Hi Diann,
Once you see results - which should be within days - you can start to reduce the dose and see what changes at that point. As far as splitting the dose I believe most of our members dose all

I"m sorry Dr. Kellon, I wasn't reading clearly and got confused.
I think my judgement is clouded by my own recent experiences, wherein I thought my horse was losing weight due to PPID, when it was in

Hi-
I'm going to be starting my girl on APF next week. She needs 14 ml/day, so I was wondering if I can split it between morning & evening? I don't want to throw it at her all at once. I'm also hoping

Hay fed was 2020-07 Timothy - we intentionally fed this new hay for a week before blood test to see how they were responding. It has just over 10% ESC+starch.

P.S. T4 1.2 is normal in most labs. You don't want to supplement a horse with low weight.

That's a decision for your vet to make but no contraindication to DMSO.

The first thing to do is check ACTH and insulin. Low lymphs, triglycerdes, weight loss and diabetic range glucose could be out of control PPID. Every diabetic horse I have worked with has weight
