Is he still on Equioxx? If so, not much chance of healing.

Re: sweet iron bit
Louise, my take on this would be that unless you want to do an experiment to measure how much iron might dissolve in horses' saliva or how much might come off as rust, and the result of that

Do you have an actual copy of the blood test results? Given his numbers when you tested last August, and that you are seeing symptoms (were there any other symptoms besides lethargy?) I would

I have not updated my horse's case history yet but I just got the results of his ACTH retest. He was started on 1 mg in August and I was convinced he was not on the correct dose all through the Fall

Re: Beet Pulp Boycott
Hi Anne,
You can use a cooler to soak hay in if you're worried about the water freezing. If you haven't been able to get your hay tested, another safe option is to use Triple Crown Timothy Balance

Hi Anne,
If you think he has uclers due to the Bute you could do a round of Ulcerguard.

Hi Anne. Yes, Speedibeet is safe but you must rinse it thoroughly, then soak it 10 minutes in cool water and then rinse again before feeding it. I'm not sure it has any special flavoring or anything,

Recovery From 7 Months of Bute
One more question...my horse was on and off Bute (mostly on) for 7 months. Completely off now. Do I need to have him on anything to help repair the gut damage done from that long term Bute use?
