Re: Giving Omeprazole To Horses Getting Phenylbutazone
Thanks Dr. Kellon,
That research is enough to make me suspicious of using omeprazole with Banamine. I’m eager to get my mare scoped to find out if it is still ulcers causing her intermittent mild

Dr. K truths and myths about alfalfa
Hi Dr. K
Just wanted to thank you for this article, it was very informative and timely for our area. That’s all they grow here (less water, heat) except for a couple of ppl that don’t have to

Hi Marsha,
Just want to add one more comment here - if you LOOK at the photos you just added the other day, on the ones that the coronary band is clearly visible

I just echo what Nancy and others are saying about insulin. Vinnie has had this long run of ups and downs (2 yrs) all coming back to insulin spikes causing laminitis and sore feet. If I knew then

Re: Update on Cadet, insulin is higher after 4 months on Invokana
I was wondering about this too, since pricepropharmacy.com ships from UK and affordablerx ships from India and the packaging isn't temp protected. Could we be getting product that in flight that

Re: InsulinWise
Thank you for this.
My vet also recommended it for Haven and he developed a persistent cough after just a couple of days... persistent as in one deep cough every couple of minutes.

There should be a freezing precaution. Do a Google search for "Invokana freezing".

Re: Urine testing and grazing muzzle
Hi Patti,
For my hand walks, I use this muzzle:
https://www.munch-n-done.com/
It is lighter than a muzzle intended for turn out, only used when Cadet is under supervision. It has been quite durable

The storage temperature issue came up with my post too so I went back and checked both my prascend and invokana storage temps. I can't recall what the actual temps were (about 77-80 deg F) but there

Were you ever able to find out what assay Idexx uses? We are seeing quite a few Cornell results that don't match the horse's clinical condition and are significantly higher than other labs.

Re: Update on Cadet, insulin is higher after 4 months on Invokana
Thanks Dr. Kellon. I guess I was more concerned about the Cornell insulin result. I just submit to Idexx for interest. His weight is stable, attitude good (similar to when his insulin was lower),

The FDA monograph says to store it between 59 and 86F https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2017/204042s026lbl.pdf .
His insulin (Idexx) is well below the estimated threshold for acute

Yes, the medication is stored at home. BTW, I checked the package insert and it states "This medication does not require any special storage conditions". I order it through

Thank you Dr. Kellon,
This is pertinent and timely for me. On my veterinarian’s recommendation, I have recently been treating a horse with intermittent ,mild colic with Banamine and Gastrogard.

Re: Update on Cadet, insulin is higher after 4 months on Invokana
Are you storing it at “room temperature” (77 degrees). I failed to do that and it stopped working for my boys. I threw out all of the meds and started with fresh pills and it’s working again.
