Re: Bute?
Hi Lisa. It's really hard to answer your question without a case history. It sounds like Danny has two things going on- osteoarthritis and PPID. Here is a link on the use of bute for Cushings

Re: Laminitis and Mare Hormonal Relationship?
I wanted to give an update on Megan; we have the hormone labs back. She also had a uterine ultrasound both times with follicles > 30 mm on each side the first time and one side the second time.

Re: TSF Metabolic Support, Bunch Grass, and Palmer Angle questions
Hi Shera,
It would help if you could provide a link to the actual product but alfalfa and rice bran are both no gos for most IR horses. Safe carriers would include beet pulp (rinsed/soaked/rinsed)

Re: Laminitis(?) emergency
She has been picking on the hay and straw some since yesterday but hasn't pooped in at least 24 hrs now so presumably colic; I've been trying and trying to get ahold of the vet to come out but no luck

Re: blood work results/ Dr. Kellon please
The glucose and insulin are safely away from the acute laminitis zone. I would do a test for triglycerides since it's not clear what that note means. Chylomicrons are not visible but in any case

Re: TSF Metabolic Support, Bunch Grass, and Palmer Angle questions
Thank you, Kirsten and Sherry. I will try to get the photos right today. Do I put those in the same album with the x-rays?
What do you suggest for a carrier to her supplements? The low low ingredients

Unfortunately Stetson is not accustomed to going without food 24/7, ie: grazing at will. Now that I'm putting him in his dry-lot during the day (in at 8am-out 8pm w/ muzzle) he is extremely antsy for

Hi Susan. Welcome to the group. Our blood draw protocol and rationale is detailed in our welcome letter. At first, you will feel, that the information shared here is contradictory to what your vet has

Hi Christee,
Just to be clear, for people who might worry, you have made a good distinction, which can be underlined.
Soy hulls are perfectly fine,as opposed to the beans.
