The muzzle is open- but taped at the mouth hole to stop any grass munching- it's the new Thin line muzzle. Its allows more air through

Hi Kelly,
This sounds highly suspicious for an abscess. I wouldn't recommend soaking with her soles being as thin as they are as that will make them soft as well - not a good combination.

I would suggest, based on experience. that if you do anything, just apply a poultice on the foot. I personally like Numotizine, as it

She will eat the carrier (Haystack low/low Special Blend pellets) by itself; she isn't on Equioxx or any other pain

Angie, does your vet believe that steaming your hay will reduce mold which could be responsible for causing the diarrhea? I'm guessing that is the concern, since she suggested trying cubed or pelleted
