Re: Acetyl-L-carnitine
My mare had her first normal insulin test (26). She is in regular exercise, a good weight, diet working, but her crest is still there. She's had it most of her life. Is there more I should do/can do?

Hi Yvonne
ALCAR is used primarily for nerve (neuropathic) pain. We have seen some members report insulin improvement. It does not replace a tested and balanced diet.

Re: In search of resources in AZ to diagnose possible PPID horse.
Time of day does not matter as long as you are at least 4 hours after the first meal of the day for horses that do not have access to hay constantly overnight.

Thank you. Will do. So time of day the test is taken has no bearing, correct?
Regarding the hay, having uploaded AZ and CO Hay Analysis’s, (we divide our year between AZ and CO almost equally), (

Re: karo syrup test vs serum
HI Linda.
IME, I'd expect a non-IR horse to be nearer to 10 if fed only low ESC+starch hay continuously before testing.
As a Morgan, it is good she's getting an IR diet.

Hi Dr K, I'm not sure how to interpret your answer. When I asked you a couple of weeks ago if Stara's score of 23 meant she was not IR, you said for a horse who is not on pasture and fed low sugar
