Welcome to the group!
You can always soak hay and allow it to dry prior to feeding it. Many members soak the hay for the day at the same time so it can be fed out without needing to do

We need a lot more details but the first thing you need to look into is moving him to a more appropriate place.

Re: IR and n/p1 mare
Ani,
We REALLY need a full history to know where all of this is coming from. Also, where was the n/p1 testing done?

Re: Jack is still foot sore - what now?
Hi Hilary,
If you start correcting the trim now you should see positive changes for Jack but it takes a year to grow out a completely new hoof and it can take several months for abscesses to mobilize,

If metformin doesn't get the job done I can send your vet a background file on the -flozins.
At his age, the TRH stimulation is definitely worth doing. Just today I saw a test that was 22 at baseline

Re: Metformin 30-60 min before feed?
It's not true that metformin does not increase insulin sensitivity and only works by blocking glucose absorption https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8836112/ . Since horses are not meal fed

Hi All!
I have a 19 year old Mustang Pony that had a very bad bout of founder in the spring of 2021. Upon further reflection, I believe he was foundering every spring since he was about 5 years old

I relabeled the radiographs correctly as the dates were confusing.
The trim reduced the size of the laminar wedge on top of the foot (that's OK) but unfortunately, it didn't actually address the fact

I haven't seen anything about nitrogen processing with Ultra Cruz and even if it was it would be exposed as soon as you open the container. The HG Flaxen Flow is in a pouch evacuated of air and comes

I agree with Kirsten but if his diet is the same or better than it was at the time of the 2020 test, increase the pergolide then do another TRH test in 3 to 4 weeks.

Hi Barb,
I would not stop the pergolide for another stim test. You already have a diagnosis of PPID, which is the purpose of the stim test.
PPID horses can develop IR if the PPID isn't carefully
