Re: Maintaining grass free dry lot
Hi Kristie,
We use the vinegar/water/soap spray and/or put down cardboard over the problem areas.
Rocks or weights of some kind help keep the cardboard in place until the next rain.

Re: Maintaining grass free dry lot
Kristie, there are lots of ideas over on the Horsekeeping group. You could search using terms such as “grass free”, “kill grass”, “weed control” etc.

Unfortunately I can’t feed any hay and they are on a TC Timothy Balance Cubes only diet. I’ve bought them some cube balls to roll around in addition to their soaked cubes. Manure is picked

Make sure to put mats under where you feed hay. And clean manure up regularly.

Fescue isn't a good choice either because the endophyte that can infect it causes hoof problems.

Thank you, Dr. Kellon,
I’m now aware of this. I’m trying to see if fescue or orchard grass can be given to him.

It should be pointed out here that ryegrass hay is definitely not appropriate for a horse with metabolic syndrome. Too much sugar and starch. Not enough to get those numbers on a normal horse but

Several options, and I'm not the person for details but you could speak to local landscapers or your stage agricultural extension agent:
- herbicides
- black plastic cover to kill the vegetation
- pea

Re: Manganese and selenium levels
I struggled with the same question. My vet said that we are selenium deficient, but the USGS map showed my county as being very high in selenium.

Maintaining grass free dry lot
For 5 years I have managed to keep my dry lot grass free for my minis and rarely had to use muzzles. Unfortunately, this year has been the exception. We have recently tilled it and leveled and it

Carla, so glad we got an order! Kristen at TC found me a source less than 20 miles from me and I pick up another 10 bags tomorrow! I go through 1 bag every 4 days.
I don’t know if you happened
