Re: Hogan not eating - was Re: [ECIR] June Xrays and continued pain/abscess
We don't recommend torturing horses to the point they are not eating! However, you can ask about a prescription for Tramadol instead of NSAIDs.

Re: Phyto-Quench
We can't possibly answer your question about where pain is coming from over the internet. What I can tell you is that insulin and PPID are not being well controlled so you should speak to your vet

Hi Robin,
Did you add in APF as well? Since you changed his Prascend dosage you may be seeing a bit of a veil effect.

Additionally, what I find very strange is that last night he didn't lay down at all. Prior to last night he's been laying down every night and is slow to get up in the morning.

I started Metformin on Wednesday. Yes, I'm syringing his mouth with water after each dose.
I also increased his prascent from .5 to .75 g over 3 days and yesterday to 1 g.
My vet wants to put him on

Is he drinking, passing manure and urine normally? If not, you need to get your vet involved. How much Tramadol?

Re: Mouse and Ryn 6/7/2022 blood work results DR Kellon advice please
For Ryn, exercise, exercise, exercise. Otherwise, your next option is an SGLT2 inhibitor. If you e-mail me your vet's e-mail contact I will send information.

Hogan not eating - was Re: [ECIR] June Xrays and continued pain/abscess
Hi Robin,
Have you started Metformin? Are you rinsing his mouth after administration? When did he stop eating? (And does this mean his not eating anything or still eating hay but not hard feed?)

Hi Kimberly,
You would create a folder for Ryn within your current case history folder and then add the link to that folder to your signature. Another option is rename your main folder to "Kimberly

Mouse and Ryn 6/7/2022 blood work results DR Kellon advice please
Bloodwork is not good news. Both horses were on Metformin orally in food. Ryn started 5/23 thru 6/5 but had stopped eating on 6/2 so was not getting much if any. Mouse was started on 5/26 thru 6/6

What is the lab's reference range for glucose? Those numbers appear very low to me, only the 4.4 seems ok and even that is worryingly low for an unfasted horse, but your lab reference range might be

Re: Jack update - insulin down from 170 to 25 on Metformin!
That's great news! I'm sorry it took so long to get there. Is he noticeably feeling better?
I would still plan to test baseline ACTH at the peak of the seasonal rise to see if it's abnormally high

Re: One month post-laminitis status on Cayuse
Use your own discretion on the Banamine. If the signs haven't changed from when you did the urine culture, no need to do anything else.

Re: Need assistance with trimming hooves and BCS
Hi Karen,
How is Apollo feeling now? With Apollo's high insulin and pain in April, did soaking his hay help? Metformin would be an option to bring down his insulin if it's still high and he's still
