Re: Need assistance with trimming hooves and BCS
Hi Mary,
We don't use NSC at all any more, for any substance. It is an outdated term and measurement.
The 8.7% is just the starch amount in the Senior (as tested), to which you need to add the ESC.

I was actually asking why use NSC for one substance and ESC & starch for another?
I don’t like the starch being that high in the Lite feed either. I dont promote using it.
Hmmm… 8.7% in

Hi Erin,
For a horse the change in weight for each number on the Henneke scale is about 40-50lbs but it varies. If you haven't already looked at our chart please do check it: Body Condition Scoring

Hi Mary,
The ESC+starch listings given by Triple Crown are not guaranteed. You can look in the files of the group for actual tests done. Bearing in mind that you want to see starch below 4% the TSC

Re: Need assistance with trimming hooves and BCS
Kirsten
Can you tell me why you use NSC for feeds but not for hay? Triple Crown gives the ESC + starch numbers for their feeds. The Senior, Senior Gold & the Lite are all less than 10% ESC + starch.
