Hay testing question
Hello,
I have a sample of new hay to test, but my preferred testing company lists their test as a combo NIR/wet Chemistry. Can someone tell me if it is acceptable?
The second option has less info

Re: Mya - waiting on trim - has abscesses - diet /pain please advise
Mya's issues are also highly suspicious of PPID. Is you vet amenable to putting her on pergolide at least for the seasonal rise then testing her after that?

What is a reasonable period of time to wait before a two hour trailer ride for a recovering laminitic horse with three post-laminitis trims and very light pulses? Assume the trim is competent and

Re: Metformin vs pergolide Spirulina and wheat bran
It is readily available, I could buy 2500 lb of it today but that would be ridiculous for me as an individual.
I have contacted the lead investigator of that study to see if studying this effect in IR

Re: Crisis with a cushings mare
OK good! So the bloodwork at your next vet appointment will tell you if the 1 mg dose is adequate. I strongly suspect you will need to increase it and because the seasonal rise in ACTH has started

She is on her pergolide still. I never removed it.
I can’t find hay here unless it’s a compressed bale from TSC
I have been looking for hay for weeks.

Re: Advice on balancing diet please.
I didn't see anything missing in your diet recommendations from Forage Plus.
If you are going to be getting new hay soon, I'd wait until you've done so then see what her metabolic bloodwork shows

Oliver's breed and late in life onset of laminitis are highly suspicious of PPID. The same may be true for Mya but her genetics predispose her to EMS. How long have you had her?

Hi Kay,
Could you buy some grass hay and soak it before feeding it? 1 hr in cold water or 30 min in hot water. I think that's better than taking a chance on pellets which cannot be soaked to remove
