Re: Too much pergolide or increased too fast?
Here on ECIR we recommend testing a horse with PPID in late July to make sure their ACTH isn't climbing too fast. If it is, then you'll have time before the peak of the rise to increase pergolide

Hi Barb,
Have you had his Vitamin E level checked? Do you have the results of the 'general bloodwork' that was done?
Thanks,

Re: Too much pergolide or increased too fast?
Hi Karen,
Most people test at least once a year (in the spring) when their vet comes to do shots. If the horse is on Metformin they'll need more testing and if you're trying to dial in a pergolide

Re: Morgan Mare Diagnosed with EMS and PPID
Hi Lori,
If that test was done using wet chem (which I believe it was) that hay should be ok without soaking.
Thanks,

Re: Hay testing question
Option 1 is missing iron and only tests starch with NIR, both not ideal. It's not clear if ESC is by NIR or wet chemistry.
Option 2 looks better, if you can confirm the entire test is by wet

Re: Hay testing question
Hi Rhonda
You want to make sure the carbohydrates are tested via wet chemistry. ESC and starch in particular.
It looks to me that Option does not do that. Not exactly sure what you are telling us

I have Equine Automation and EEZFeeder.com. Both will feed cubes easily.
And, Debbie, I can’t comment on the science, but what you described is exactly what I do. Mine get 17 ounces of cubes
