Re: Help for my mare Alaska
Pictures can go in your photo album on the case history sub group. That teff would need to be soaked to be suitable as the ESC+starch is right at 10%. Do you know if that test as well as the other

Is there any way you can have the hay soaked for all feedings? It can be done ahead and then allowed to dry. In addition to getting the trim addressed that's one thing I would change ASAP.

Thank you Kirsten!
I have requested a copy of her oral sugar test from the vet so can hopefully share results soon. I have spoken to a couple vets in our area about running insulin and glucose bloods

Hi Mikaela,
Are you soaking his hay (assuming it's the one that tested with the high ESC+starch in May)? If not, I would be. Could you post current trim pictures?

How often does your trimmer see her?
Have you been able to organize a vet visit?

I apologize about the salt,Nicolle.
I was concerned about iodine, but I see she is getting Amino Trace,so that should look after the iodine.
Can you describe what you have been able to do with her

Lorna, thank you for keeping us in your thoughts. Re: salt. It was recommended to use the pickling salt as it has nothing added to it. I can surely switch to iodized was just curious why it is

Nancy,
Exercise definitely adds to the triglyceride issue. To start, test his glucose before exercise and immediately after then 10 minutes after.

Makes sense. Hopefully I can get vet to see it that way. Wonder if cost is a factor in where clinics decide to send their samples.

Sherry did a great job of outlining the issues here. I would just add that the fall timing of his laminitis last year is highly suspicious for uncontrolled PPID during the seasonal rise.
