What do you mean by "whole plant". Studies are with extracts from the leaf. I have never heard of horses going off feed from Jiaogulan. They love the taste.

Two ounces should cover most horses in heat but if you are seeing sweating under the mane, along the chest, between the hind legs, go up to 3 oz

Insulin is a moving target. It responds to the glucose (and protein) load presented to it. Fasting insulin with no glucose or amino acids being absorbed should be less than 8

No, starving will only cause a bigger insulin spike with meals because then every meal occurs after a fast, which is worse. Some vets recommend down to 1% of body weight but if they don't need to
