Hi Kerry
To diagnose or monitor iron overload on a tissue level you need Ferritin, as well as the Fe, TIBC, and % saturation

Re: Sloughing Pix Posted
Hi All,
I just posted yesterday's pics of Elsa's feet. It appears that she will lose her left front capsule. Could anyone please provide comments.

Cornell’s Iron panel — useful?
Hi group,
While logging in to Cornell’s AHDC, I saw (new? or new-to-me) Iron panel offering Fe, TIBC, and % saturation. Is this the same testing KSU offers?

Lesley,
It would be very helpful for us if you could take and post current trim pictures and any x-rays you have so we can advise where the trim can be improved. Is she in boots now?
Thanks,
Sherry

Kirsten,
I do think her pain is not well controlled. She gets 2 scoops of phytoquench with DC a day.
Straight DC is being delivered soon. She still shifts weight over feet

Definitely NOT old news but good news (and exciting for me because it's all local vets who were involved). Not out on PubMed unfortunately and it was just published last month: Genomic hybrid capture

Lesley,
Have you checked her mouth for ulcers from the Metformin? If there's no evidence of those I would look at pain as causing the issue (or ulcers, she's been treated for those, hasn't she?)

Toni, there are heaps of ideas about how to create and maintain dry lots, plus keep horses in dry lots happy and contented, in the Horsekeeping sub-group. If you do a search there, I'm sure you will
