I would like to add to this that any pasture which regrows the next Spring is not "dead". As mentioned there, the lower portions of the plant (and the roots) will be very high in sugar, which is how

Yes, relieving her is a great gift - but you will still need to grieve. The pain of loss is the same regardless of the circumstances.

So sorry for your loss, Courtney. Sometimes, the best thing we can do for them is the hardest for us. You listened to your girl and did what was best for her.
Peace and hugs to you during this

Timothy Balance Cubes are fed at a 3:4 ratio to hay
I’m sure this is a stupid question but I don’t know how to do this - or exactly what is meant ?
my IR horse is 900 lbs & is actually a little thin - if I do 2% hay that’s 18lbs hay a day - how

I'm so, so, sorry Courtney. I know that loss, and have been down that painful road. Your world is out of balance and it will take a while but eventually the joy she brought you will win out.

Re: Help please, recent and first laminitis
You're doing fine here Laura! Relax.
Try feeding him 1.5% of his ideal body weight. I'm not a big fan of inducing abnormalities (hyperthyroidism!). Metabolisms vary but weight loss is still a matter

Re: Heavy breathing
If this were my horse I would have the vet check her for RAO/COPD as well as checking her ACTH level. As we're in the midst of the rise she may need more pergolide at this time of year.

Steaming does not reduce ESC like soaking does. Lepto and Lyme are both blood tests and if you want to rule them out you should have those tests run as well.

Yes, Costco is the way to go, for sure. I get 500, 1000mg tablets for about $22. Got some at Rite Aid once for $120!!! Yikes!
