Re: Stabul 1 vs. Triple crown Low Starch/ and Balancer
Tina if you want to confirm one way or the other you could always send in a sample yourself to compare to their “guaranteed” analysis. I think you’ll be surprised how different it will come out.

Falki - New Blood Work - Insulin Only
Hi All,
I decided to test Falki's insulin because after an extended cold period for over a week with daytime highs not getting above -20C and cold winds, I could see he wasn't walking around as much.

Safe Anesthesia/ medications for PPID / IR horses
I can't remember where to find the medications that won't cause laminitis or interfere with Prascend? Tex may be having a surgery or procedure to remove a large tumor on his side.

Hi Carolyn
You've got basically no functioning back foot from an extended period of time with high heels and long toe. The only way to fix this is through more frequent trimming or significant removal

Re: New Member with questions
I would equate the long toe with walking on a high heel when you're not used to it or having a hangnail that catches on things. Painful either way and the broken back pastern angle isn't good either.

Re: sky high insulin , now what. Metformin?
Hi Julie,
I don't like to rattle the cage when things are working. Talk to your vet about keeping the pergolide until Spring, stop 3 weeks, then do TRH stimulation.
The doses look right for your foot

I want to emphasize, again, that horses do not need constant access to food and that is especially true for metabolic horses. https://wp.me/p2WBdh-a8 .
For one thing, you can't compare hay to grass
