Hi Amber,
You're question really needs a review and answer from the vets here. Dr.Kellon will answer when she is available, hang on.
A question I have for you is why your vet would recommend you

Hi Ellen,
I agree with giving metformin a try, 30 mg/kg, twice daily (so 60 mg/kg total daily dose). Retest in 1 week and if you continue it at 6 weeks.
I'd also consider increasing the pergolide a

Daisy - You will want to ask for ACTH, Glucose, Insulin, and Leptin for your first time. Specific ways to draw, spin, and send off on ice for next day to Cornell. Your horse needs to keep eating up

The only flavor of Stabul 1 I buy is Fenugreek. Right now, Scotty's feedings of it are more or less a few hand feeds/day for meds, and a tiny bit (handful) at night. Every horse has their preference,

PowerPac and Other Questions
Several questions in this message:
I did a FEC (McMaster's Flotation Method) on 4 horses (1 PPID/IR, 1 IR, 2 unknown). Two came back with results over 600 EPG, one was over 500 EPG and one was zero.

I am feeding Fenugreek (1/2 tsp in each bucket feeding) just for flavoring. My horse is eating his minerals in a non-grain mix much better with the addition of Fenugreek. I've also read that Fenugreek

Re: Herbs and rx meds
I buy fenugreek seed from bulkfoods.com A 25 lb costs $43.95 so feeding 4 oz. a day would make it last 100 days. That's about 44 cents a day plus the cost of shipping. Its a good source of vitamins
