Everything I have read explains the value of keeping older horses active, according to their abilities.
It's definitely worth considering, in my opinion.

Re: Laminitis and breathing problem
There certainly can be systemic inflammatory responses, but endocrine laminitis is not inflammatory. It may be that the more rapid and shallow breathing caused by pain is making signs more obvious.

I am wondering if it is possible for a horse having an acute laminitic episode (like when they escape from a dry lot into a grass field) to also experience breathing issues if the underlying condition

Re the 3 causes of laminitis
isnt grain overload a cause, after metabolic?
following the ice:
i tell people icing metabolic laminitis does nothing because its not inflammatory. I was corrected that

Re: How many PPID horses still rideable
Thanks to everyone who gave information on the rideability of their older PPID horse. All of your input was very encouraging. Important to not give in to vague worries which I’m prone to do.

Re: Are PPID/IR horses ever touchy when it's cold?
I was guilty of giving static shock to my horses. I guess I'm charged! Wearing a nylon jacket was a surefire way to shock the horse as I drew off its blanket over its hind end. Now I do so very slowly
